Keempat, distribusi alomorf yang disebut suplesi (suppletion). Suplesi, seperti halnya kondisi leksikal, hanya terjadi pada kata tertentu. Dalam bahasa Inggris, misalnya, bentuk good dan better tidak sama. Akan tetapi, good dan better merepresentasikan leksem GOOD. Demikian pula dengan bentuk am, are, dan is. ABSTRACT
This is a morphophonemic analysis on Nias, an Austronesian language spoken by about 700,000 people. Most of them live on the island of Nias. Morphophonemic processes in the vocalic language occur in nouns and verbs. Morphophonemic processes which occur in nouns are of two types: (1) addition of a certain sound to the beginning of the host and (2) change of the initial sound of the host. The function of the noun/host in the clause subcategorizes for the addition of a certain sound to the beginning of the host and change of the initial sound of the host. The first morphophonemic process occurs to the noun beginning with vowel. The latter occurs to the noun initiating with consonant. (more…)
