South Nias Regency
The South Nias Regency (Kabupaten Nias Selatan) was formed through Indonesian Law No. 9 dated 25 February 2003 regarding the Formation of South Nias Regency, West Pakpak Regency, dan Humbang Hasundutan Regency in the Province of North Sumatera.
Inaugural ceremony of the creation of the South Nias Regency was held in Medan on 28 July 2003 by the Minister of Internal Affair on behalf of the President of the Republic of Indonesia. This was followed by the appointment of former North Sumatra Governor, the late Mr. T. Rizal Nurdin, as the acting Regent of South Nias.
The South Nias Regency has 8 districts: Pulau-pulau Batu (Batu Islands), Hibala, Teluk Dalam, Amandraya, Lahusa, Gomo, Lölöwa'u and Lölömatua. Teluk Dalam is the capital of the Regency.
Fahuwusa Laia, SH, MH is the current regent of South Nias and Daniel Duha, SH the Vice Regent.
